The Untouchables Motorcycle Club was founded in the City of Gary, Indiana in the summer of 2000 by Todd "Pac Man" Cliborne and Jeff "The Glide" Matson. After belonging to a larger club, the UMC's two Founding Fathers decided to hang up their vests and create a smaller, more local Club for police officers that ride American-made motorcycles. They took their experiences, both good and bad, and created what would later become the most recognized and respected law enforcement motorcycle club in the world “The Untouchables Motorcycle Club”.
From the beginning, it was determined that the UMC would be created solely to benefit the widows and children of fallen police officers, strengthen our existing Brotherhood, and to promote our love of motorcycling and true freedom. The Club's motto quickly became, "Riding for our Brothers that can't."
The Club's chosen name "Untouchables" was used to describe Federal Agent Elliot Ness’s group of law enforcers that took on mob kingpin, Al Capone, during Chicago's Prohibition-era. To this day, the name "Untouchables" signifies strength, unity, and determination under extraordinary circumstances.
The Club's Colors are forged in Black and Orange. Other than red, white, and blue, these are the colors most closely associated with American-made and freedom of the road.
The Club's centerpiece features a menacing skull character aptly named, "Elliot." Like his famous namesake, Elliot wears a Black Fedora hat, Black trench coat, Black gloves, and a gold police star to signify that he is a Protector. In his hands, a smoking Thompson sub-machine gun, to warn against evil.
After careful planning and preparation, the UMC made its public debut on Labor Day in 2000.
Even after numerous requests to start Chapters in other parts of the country, the UMC remained in Indiana until shortly after the attacks on America on September 11, 2001. Shortly thereafter, charters were granted in the states of Ohio and New York.
In 2003, two friends had been looking for a club that fit with their jobs, attitudes, and personalities. After searching, they came across the UMC. A road trip ensued to meet the group. After meeting other members, they knew this was the only group for them. In October 2003, they were granted the California chapter.
In 2005, do to the size of the State and the expanding distance between members; the California Chapter with the blessing of the Founding Fathers and the vote of the UMC restructured its Chartered State to include Nor-Cal and So-Cal as regions within its one Chapter, thus keeping with UMC bylaws. Our Motto... "Separated By Distance but Never Divided" is a testimony to the unity and brotherhood of the California Chapter.
Today, the Untouchables Motorcycle Club continues to grow and prosper throughout the world. Our expansion and influence in the motorcycling community has no boundaries. The Untouchables are here to stay!
